Wave Leaders

Wave Leaders are a student leadership position within the Hullabaloo Hello orientation team. They are the welcoming committee of the orientation experience and serve as a resource, guide and mentor as new students transition into Tulane! Each Wave Leader is assigned a group of new students who they will guide through the Hullabaloo Hello orientation experience and familiarize them with life at Tulane.

Want to be a Wave Leader?

 

Every Wave Leader is assigned a group of new students to lead through Hullabaloo Hello. While leading your group through Hullabaloo Hello you would be facilitating group discussions and connections, sharing information on campus resources, and providing general insight into life at Tulane.

To serve as a WL, the following criteria must be met and upheld throughout the entirety of your time in the role:

  • Completed at least one semester as a student at Tulane
  • Have and maintain a minimum of a 2.5 GPA
  • Remain in ‘good standing’ with the university in accordance to the Student Code of Conduct  

Can I be a Wave Leader and have other jobs?

  • Yes, as long as you are able to work the required dates of employment as outlined in the Wave Leader job description. Due to this you cannot be a Resident Advisor. However, you can be a TIDES Peer Mentor.
  • Additionally, the Wave Leader position preps you with soft skills and leadership skills that you can highlight on your resume to secure other on-campus jobs!

 

Would I get paid?

  • Yes! All wave leaders receive a $250 stipend along with other benefits such as early move-in.  

 

Do I get to move in early?

  • Yes! All Wave Leaders will need to arrive back to campus/New Orleans prior to the first day of class to receive training and facilitate Hullabaloo Hello. Early move-in costs associated with on-campus housing is covered by NTC: College Programs.

The Board of Directors

The Board of Directors (BODs) are an elevated student leadership role within the Hullabaloo Hello orientation team. They are former wave leaders who saw the importance of the orientation experience and wanted to make an even bigger impact as student leaders. The BODs serve as a committee and assist in the creation and implementation of Hullabaloo Hello, supervise and support a group of Wave Leaders, and provide general support to incoming first year students.
