Opportunities for Students

Are you interested in creating fun video content for social media? Would you love to share your Tulane experience while working closely with a dynamic team of fellow storytellers? Now’s your chance!

The First-Year Five (FY5) are the official first-year experience brand ambassadors and content creators, showing incoming and current first-year students all they need to know about Tulane. We’re looking for five rising sophomores (Class of 2028) to join our team!

The First-Year Seminar Peer Mentor program is an academic leadership opportunity for upper-class students to serve as a mentor to new students in a first-year seminar classroom, including TIDES & Honors Colloquium. Peer Mentors lay a foundation of support for first-year students by modeling a collaborative and inclusive academic culture, delivering content on academic success and Tulane campus culture, and helping students connect with different campus resources and opportunities for academic exploration.

Scholar Societies provide first-year students the opportunity to make a lasting connection with a faculty member and peer mentor. These faculty-led groups, each of which has a specific theme or area of focus, help foster community among honors students and create the opportunity for informal interactions with a faculty member. Scholar Society Peer Mentors will support Faculty Leads by communicating with students, facilitating conversations at events, and planning programming around a Scholar Society theme.

A one! A two! Join the Hullabaloo!

Wave Leaders are a student leadership position within the Hullabaloo Hello orientation team. They are the welcoming committee of the orientation experience and serve as a resource, guide and mentor as new students transition into Tulane! As a Wave leader, you would be assigned a group of new students to lead through Hullabaloo Hello, facilitate group discussions and connections, share information on campus resources, and provide general insight into life at Tulane.

Opportunities for Faculty

125+ faculty, one in each of the first-year seminar courses

TIDES and Honors Colloquia faculty are more than just classroom instructors. Through engaging course content, they provide an introduction to the academic rigor and interdisciplinary education of Tulane and give guidance on how to excel as a student. They also introduce you to the New Orleans community with field trips, classroom speakers, and class conversations.

Residential Faculty bring academic conversations into your home by sponsoring programs in each first-year residence hall. RFMs give you the opportunity to connect with faculty where you live and also provides the opportunity for one-on-one conversations over coffee or lunch.
