Hello, everyone! My name is Sophie Slade, and I couldn’t be more excited to be a part of the First Year Five Cohort for 2026-2027! I am a sophomore from Jackson, Mississippi, majoring in International Relations and Political Economy with a minor in Classics.
On campus, I am involved in Phi Alpha Delta (the pre-law fraternity), Green Wave Ambassadors, Newcomb Scholars, and Model United Nations. I also work as a Beat Reporter for the School of Liberal Arts and as a copy editor for the Tulane Hullaballoo.
Outside of class and extracurriculars, you will find me attending Yoga Classes at Reilly Rec Center with friends, picnicking on Sharp Lawn, and trying new coffee shops around the Uptown New Orleans area.
I can’t wait to meet you in Uptown this year! Tulane is such an amazing experience, and, though I’m sure you’ve heard it a thousand times, you truly will find your best friends here. The first year of college can be so overwhelming, so don’t hesitate to reach out to me or any other First-Year Fives with any questions, worries, or advice on what we should cover in videos! Be patient with yourself and others throughout your first year; you’re going to do great!
