Hi everyone! My name is Annie Van De Walle, and I am beyond excited to be a member of the First Year Five team for 2026-2027! I am a sophomore from Downers Grove, IL, 30-ish minutes from Chicago. I am majoring in Legal Studies in Business, minoring in Public Relations, and I hope to earn a Sports Management certificate as well!
On campus, I am the Public Relations chair of Phi Mu, which I absolutely love! Being in a sorority has connected me with so many women on campus through common values and philanthropic efforts, and given me over 200 sisters, even though I only have brothers at home. (Shoutout to my big, Reed!) I am also a member of Phi Alpha Delta, Tulane’s pre-law fraternity, which has given me numerous resources as a pre-law student and taught me so much about everything law school related! (Shoutout to my big pt. 2, VP Lauren!)
Beyond Greek organizations, I was a member of First-Year Honors Scholars and am a member of College Scholars for this school year! I attend Bible study and Discipleship small group at Tulane Catholic, as well as Women in Business club meetings. I also worked with a local nonprofit in New Orleans through my colloquium course in the fall! Moral of the story, Tulane has SO MUCH for you to get involved in!
You can often find me taking walks in Audubon Park, going on streetcar side quests with my friends, playing pickup basketball at the Reily Center, socializing at the Phi Mu house, or studying at the Freret Starbucks with a chai latte (nonfat, light ice, seasonal cold foam. trust me on this one). I am a huge fan of going out to the French Quarter to explore and try new foods! I absolutely love country music (Treaty Oak Revival is my favorite), Cava, Ben & Jerry’s ice cream, the Chicago Cubs, Jimmy Buffett music, scrolling on Pinterest, the movie Almost Famous, and talking about Game of Thrones!
